A quick peek at the ZDP-189 range from Yoshida Hamono

As we continue working through all our knives and updating photos it's great to be able to show off more of the knives up close and the ZDP189 range is one of our favourites. It's about the hardest steel we've ever sold (66-67HRC) and the sharpness is as mind blowing as the edge retention.

They're really something special from Yoshida Hamono - A family company with a very long tradition of handmade tools and ancient Japanese swords with experience in forging from ZDP-189 in the traditional way.

They have a small workshop in the Japanese city of Seki.

It is known for the hand-made metal products from proven rust-resistant materials such as vg10 gold, Ginsan, Swedish steel.

A typical Yoshidine knife has a nice damask pattern, and an uneven top of the blade, full of minor recesses, which are the remainder of the manual forging.
