Kotetsu's Iron Clad Range

The Kotetsu range of exclusive lightweight chef knives, made from R2 powdered steel, blacksmithed by Ikeda san and hand sharpened individually by Shibata san. True works of art.

Made by one of Japan's finest and most respected knife sharpeners, the Kotetsu range certainly has the hallmarks of a classic in the making.

These are the thinnest knives we've ever used. The whole blade tapers from the spine down to the waffer thin edge. This knife is not for the clumsy. The edge flexes slightly when pressed against from the side with a finger nail showing just how micro fine the grind on this knife it. It will leave you breathless at its performance, a true work of sharpening art at its finest.

What you get

Wrapped in the day's local newspaper and safely encased in a stylish black storage box with a red inlay and a small note from the blacksmiths explaining that this range is how they prize art and functionality; efficient cutting tools over ones that are simply beautiful. These are both.

Along with the normal packaging, we of course include our usual plasters just in case you're not quite ready for how sharp these knives are!

All our knives also come with free blue plasters just in case you're not ready for the sharpness! If you intend to use your knives regularly (and you should be) then we don't advise you to use the boxes for day to day storage, get a magnetic knife rack instead.
