Masakage's Kumo Range
Designed to represent stormy clouds, master blacksmith Anryu San has created a strong and beautiful range of knives to last a lifetime.
The Kumo range is without a doubt one of our favourites. They stand out thanks to a striking combination of very dark brown and black wooden handles and the blades (unlike most knives) which have a matt type finish instead of a more traditional highly polished one.
It certainly makes them stand out. Performance is exactly as you'd expect - exceptional.
The blade stays sharp and the combination of a lightweight and comfortable wooden handle mean these are well worth considering. The range runs from small Petty knives through to a large carving knife.
What you get
Beautiful blue fibre boxes with the Masakage logo and name in silver foil on the lid. On the inside you will find a blue stepped inlay and your beautiful knife of course, wrapped in Japanese newspaper by the craftsmen who made it. So while you're not working on your knife skills you can catch up your Japanese language skills. Talk about the gift that keeps on giving...
All our knives also come with free blue plasters just in case you're not ready for the sharpness! If you intend to use your knives regularly (and you should be) then we don't advise you to use the boxes for day to day storage, get a magnetic knife rack instead.
