A brilliant nakiri finished to an excellent standard and feels great in hand when making light work of a wide range of ingredients!

First Impressions

Much like the SRS13 version of this range, we think the AS Migaki is a great looking knife and it boasts impressive sharpness right out of the box.

Beauty

It's a great looking range. If you're looking for a classic polished migaki finish and particular attention to detail, the rounding of the heel edge makes for a stunning and elegant knife.

In Hand

That rounding of the choil really does make the knife very comfortable in the hand and it's a joy to use. It's quite unusual to see this level of finish quality in a knife at this price point.

Durability

Aogami Super is a widely used steel because it's easy to sharpen and retains a good edge and with the stainless cladding it's a knife that's ready to work and will be easy to keep in top shape for many years.

Ease of Care

A reactive core steel and stainless cladding mean this is a great low maintenance knife with a impressive level of performance so beyond the normal care instructions it's perfect for someone who wants to enjoy the properties of a carbon steel core without too much worry about maintenance.

For longer term care, we'd recommend a carbon steel care kit.

If you prefer a stainless version of this knife, check out the Tsunehisa SRS13 collection.

Our Verdict

This is a great range combining a subtle design aesthetic with the migaki brushed finish, a high quality finish standard with attention to detail like the rounding of the heel and spine all with a classic AS carbon steel core for edge retention.

The AS Migaki are a great collection of knives, especially at this price point.
