Over 18 Policy

In order for us to be both a socially responsible retailer and to legally comply with the Offensive Weapons Act 2019 (OWA) we are only permitted to sell knives for delivery to customers in the UK who can prove they are over the age of 18 both at point of purchase and delivery.

(Please note that if you are ordering for delivery to a non UK address, age verification is not required either for purchase or delivery - you will skip this as soon as you select your delivery country during checkout)

We are a UK based and registered Limited company and as such are bound the provisions set out in the OWA.

When buying any bladed product from this website you are making a legal declaration that you are over 18 years of age and that you agree to the terms and conditions of purchase during the checkout process.

How we verify you are Over 18 during checkout 

When a bladed product is added to your basket ready for purchase and delivery to a UK address, you simply enter your details as normal in the screen shown at the first stage of checkout and the OneID® Age Verification system performs an instant and seamless check of your details against a number of sources and matches your billing address to confirm you are over 18 after which you can complete the payment of your order. 

If additional verification is required for either a personal order or a purchase using a business address/payment method you will see a pop up window asking you to connect securely to your bank to confirm your identity. No payment, charges, selfies or documentation uploads are required and the connection is purely to verify your age recorded with your bank.

In rare instances where we unable to confirm your age during checkout, you will be permitted to complete your order as normal but we will send you a follow up email immediately with a link to complete a post purchase verification. Your order will only be processed and dispatched after this has been completed.

OneID® is compliant with PAS:1296:2018 and certified under the Age Check Certification Scheme (ACCS).

Business purchases 

In the case of a business purchase using a work billing address or payment method, we are still legally required in UK to confirm the individual placing the order is over 18 and this can only be achieved with a check using a personal bank account connection but please be assured, the transaction itself is not connected or paid for in any way by this personal check.

In the event that you decide not to complete age verification for any reason, we will cancel and refund your order in full.

How we verify Over 18 delivery

All UK orders that contain a knife (including craft knives) are shipped using DPD and you must be able prove you are over 18 to receive your shipment at the time of delivery.

This is verified by the delivery driver who will require either a passport or driving licence number which they are required to enter into their delivery scanner as evidence of an age check.

A parcel containing a blade cannot be left unattended under any circumstances and so a safe place delivery is not possible. You are able to enter the delivery address of a DPD collection point shop during checkout if this is more convenient but you will still be required to provide ID on collection.

If you are ordering a knife as a gift or to be delivered to someone other than yourself, please bear in mind they will be required to provide proof of age in order to take delivery so you may wish to share the delivery tracking details for your order.
