Our in-depth range review

First Impressions

Hatsukokoro have teamed up with Nigara Hamono to make this line of stunning knives. With a lot of similarities to Nigara's Silver 3 range these are thick spined, solid tapering and very thin behind the edge leading to a high performance knife with stunning looks.

Beauty

That matt nashiji finish on the soft iron cladding is a deep grey running down to the damascus and mirror finished core steel is stunning. It shows off Nigara Hamono's excellent eye for design without doubt!

In Hand

This range is characterised by a thick spine above the heel and fairly aggressive distal taper running down to a very thin tip.

There's a feeling of weight in hand thanks to the thickness but with the balance point tending to be above the heel where the spine is thickest on the larger knives they're nimble in hand and easy to work with.

Durability

Blue #2 and soft iron clad is a widely used traditional combination for making a durable knife with excellent edge retention and durability.

Ease of Care & Maintenance Tips

Follow our normal care and carbon steel guidelines and store your knives on a magnetic rack and you'll enjoy using this for years.
