About the range

First Impressions

A perfect entry point into quality Japanese knives, the AUS8 range brings quality fit and finish and excellent value for money.

In Hand

A classic Western style knife in hand with the familiar weight and balance of a yo handle.

Durability

Now with a knife at this price point, you do have to accept some degree of compromise to reach this price point and the durability "compromise" here is just that AUS8 at around 58HRC doesn't quite have the edge retention of harder steels although the positive of this is that the edge is significantly less likely to chip.

It means you will have to hone and sharpen a little more regularly to keep that edge super sharp but it's quick and easy to get an edge with AUS8 so it's hardly the end of the world!

Ease of Care & Maintenance Tips

AUS8 is a stain resistant steel so for those looking for a low maintenance knife should definitely consider this one. Pairing it with our Japanese knife care kit will be all you need to keep the edge in excellent condition for a long time.

Our Verdict

Super value for money, well made and finished all round and with a robust and durable edge the Seki Souma AUS8 is a perfect option for a keen home cook exploring the world of Japanese knives without breaking the bank or a professional seeking a value addition to their knife rotation.
