About this range

First Impressions

You'll notice immediately the more rounded heel on Makoto's knives in this range and these allow you to hold the knife a little further forward than some others and this is a nice touch which makes them feel particularly nimble.

With their excellent geometry and thin edge, the VG7 performs particularly well right out of the box.

Beauty

Classy and understated with the maple wood and red pakka handles the migaki finish is delicate and for those who seek subtlety this might be the one for you.

Durability

The VG7 core is a stainless steel and that's clad in a stainless steel too so these knives are easy to care for and boasts an excellent level of overall robustness and durability.

Ease of Care

Follow our normal care instructions and for longer term care and maintenance we recommend our Japanese knife care kit.

Our Verdict

The Ryusen VG7 is a really impressive creation from Makoto Kurosaki and boasts an excellent edge as you might hope for from a craftsman who has specialised in sharpening and finishing and so if you're seeking a very well priced knife with a classy finish then definitely give these your attention.
