An excellent value all rounder made with an superb steel and out of the box sharpness and one we'd recommend as an ideal first Japanese knife or addition to an existing collection.


Sharpness out of the box is excellent, at this price point we sometimes find a knife might benefit from a quick hone or strop to just bring the edge up to full sharpness but this one is great from the moment you use it and the sharpness rating is very impressive. 

You'll be reaching for this one on a regular basis.


These knives are really striking, the blades with their beautiful kurouchi finish go really well with the golden colour of the Japanese Zelkova wood and mahogany handle. The two kengata styles of the santoku and gyuto 210mm also give them an extra something visually.


The handles on this range are ever so slightly larger than typical octagonal wa handles and they help balance out the knife nicely and feel great in the hand. 


This range has been treated to a high HRC of 65 so are very hard and the edge retention is excellent.

Ease of care

Just rinse and wipe, don't scrub the kurouchi too much and don't go near the dreaded dishwasher!

Value for money
