A fun selection of whale shaped knives designed by Tetsu Yamashita and made by Toru Yamashita in Tosa prefecture.

Originally created to help teach children how to safely use and handle small knives for crafting and jobs like sharpening pencils but they're incredibly versatile around the house and workshop.

These collectable knives are made from Aogami #2 Blue paper carbon steel and each on is sharpened by hand.

The knives are approximately 17cm long and a cutting edge of approximately 4.5cm and are sold with an accompanying yellow card sleeve or box depending on the blade.

Whale shapes:

  • Type A: Sperm whale
  • Type B: Male Minke whale
  • Type C: Female Minke whale
  • Type D: Fin whale (tail pointing down)
  • Type E: Fin whale (tail pointing up)
  • Type F: Minke whale fin blade

Our aim is to measure and photograph our products as accurately as possible but due to many items being handmade, finished or using natural materials, there can be minor variance in measurements and things such as blade or wood finishes can vary. We will always endeavour to provide the most accurate measurements, photos and descriptions of our products.

Some measurements such as HRC are provided by manufacturers and should therefore be used as a guide.
