Sometimes we're the lucky temporary custodians of an absolute masterpiece travelling from maker to its new owner and this is unquestionably one of those times!

We've had this incredible blue #2 / white #2 "coreless" damascus gyuto from damascus artist @shoichi_hashimoto for a little while as we decided how best to finish off the blade which is made from more than 70 layers of blue and white steel forged to create the incredible finish that has a depth we've only ever seen on the Nigrara Hamono Troll Killer as a comparable knife.

The grind, balance and profile show a deep understanding of how a high quality knife should perform and not only looks incredible but has an edge quality that matches the forging and design.

Ultimately instead of fitting a "regular" premium handle there was only one choice and so this mind blowing blade has been fitted with a one-off yellow cedar burl, faux ivory and brass spacer handle from @letshandlethis

We have more of Hashimoto san's knives on backorder so if you are interested in one, please sign up for the product notification on this knife and follow us on Instagram for updates.
