About the range

First Impressions

A traditionally forged Blue #2 core clad with soft iron and great value with its good quality edge finish out of the box.

Beauty

Like many knife ranges made in a traditional style at this price point, the classic looks and kurouchi finish are popular and we would note that in some instances the finishing on the cladding and handle fit, can occasionally show some scuffs but it's quite common that these small things would be where costs are reduced without impacting on performance.

In Hand

Generally quite lightweight across the range, the Blue #2 knives are easy and comfortable to use and well balanced.

Durability

At around 62-63 HRC the Blue #2 core edge retention is good and will serve you well between sharpening despite the thin edge profile.

Ease of Care & Maintenance Tips

This is a fully reactive carbon steel knife so we recommend following our normal care tips and as with all carbon steel knives, it's important to wash and dry them properly after use to avoid rusting.

Our Verdict

Overall great value for money, there are occasionally some very minor wabi-sabi parts to the finish on the knives but they're on the cladding steel rather than the edge which is thin and well sharpened offering a good level of performance out of the box at a very competitive price point for a Blue #2 knife.
