Suncraft SG2 Bunka Purchase options

An absolutely beautiful bunka knife with an understated matte finish tapering to expose a thin line of SG2 core steel where every knife is unique.

The SG2 core steel is clad in SG2 powder steel and provides a great level of hardness and edge sharpness and retention and when combined with a well fitted and finished two tone pakka wood handle we think this is a lovely looking knife.

The bunka is a great shape and offers versatility across a wide range of meat, fish and vegetable prep jobs and at 165mm, it's a perfect all rounder.

Performance

The SG2 glides through food, much of our testing has been vegetable prep and with the narrow profile and grind combined with the hard SG2 steel consistent cutting and edge retention have been very good and it's a knife you should absolutely consider adding to your collection.

Beauty

The real highlight of this knife is the individual wave pattern created by exposing the SG2 steel core at the cutting edge and then leaving an unpolished matte finish on the SG2 cladding.

Each blade has a unique finish and pattern and it contrasts well with the dark octagonal handle.

Comfort

A traditional octagonal wa handle combines with a lightweight and well balanced thin blade profile make this very comfortable to use for a wide range of jobs and as mentioned above - most of our prep and testing was vegetable based and the knife proved comfortable and easy to maneuver.

Durability

The SG2 core steel is finished to very hard 62-63HRC and will retain its edge and performance for a long time between sharpening.

Value for money

This is a well fitted and finished knife that is very sharp out of the box, has a well fitted handle thanks to its plastic holder inserted which ensures consistency.

The SG2 steel is very hard and out of the box the knife is already extremely sharp and will retain that edge well and overall it's a well balanced mid-sized all rounder that would be a great first knife or addition to your collection.
