Yu Kurosaki Fūjin SG2 Santoku Purchase options

Nimble and light like the wind that Fūjin is the god of, the santoku is a perfect all rounder used in many kitchens around the world. This knife performs every bit as exceptionally as it looks and Kurosaki's work on this range is rightfully popular and in high demand.

First Impressions

Out of the box, the quality of the finish on the cutting edge is immediately apparent and the Fūjin is right up there with the very best knives for out of the box sharpness and Kurosaki san has once again created something special with this range.

It's hard to avoid using too many superlatives when describing Yu Kurosaki knives so we won't.

These are astonishingly beautiful knives, the hammer finish designed to invoke feelings of motion from the wind of the God Fūjin combined with the subtle exposed tapering of the core SG2 steel down to the cutting edge really do make the Fūjin every bit a piece of high performance art.

Unlike the VG10 version of the Fūjin, this collection has an ebony and white buffalo horn handle to complete the outstanding look.

In Hand

Well balanced and relatively lightweight this version of the Fūjin is paired with a tradtional wa handle made from ebony and white buffalo horn. It's a joy to use.

The SG2 core steel clad in stainless is already very sharp out of the box and edge retention and durability of the steel is top notch.

Ease of Care

Very easy to care for, SG2 is stainless, durable and retains an edge well so follow our normal care guide and perhaps consider storing your knife on one of our magnetic racks when not in use.

Our Verdict

Given the outstanding sharpness, the design, fit and finish and Yu Kurosaki's experience and skill as a master blacksmith the Fūjin range is great value for money and much like his other ranges you're getting a great deal of skill and quality for your money.

Kurosaki's work is in high demand for good reason.
