About this range

First Impressions

A superb workhorse line at a very competitive price point, the Kurokaze has been designed to offer additional blade height and clearance while retaining top cutting performance.

Beauty

If you're looking for a "traditional" Japanese knife then the rustic kurouchi finish and patina that develops over time on the White #2 core is about as classic as you'll get.

In Hand

Hatsukokoro designed the Kurokaze to be a taller knife for those who want more clearance and that extra height is appreciated when working with larger ingredients but the knife remains nimble in hand and well balanced and that workhorse profile and excellent distal taper glides through food with ease.

Durability

There's a great balance of edge retention and durability with the White #2 core hardened to around 61HRC. White #2 is a commonly used core steel because it's robust and quick and easy to sharpen.

Our Verdict

An outstanding knife from Hatsukokoro that hits all the sweet spots of quality, style and cutting performance and one we find very easy to recommend at this competitive price point for anyone seeking a workhorse knife with a bit of extra height.
