Katsuyasu Kamo

Kamo Knives are crafted by Kamo Hamono Seisakusho in Echizen, Fukui Prefecture, a region with a long and respected history of forging. Third generation master smith Katsuyasu Kamo leads the workshop, bringing decades of experience and refined skill to every blade.

Founded in the early 1950s, the company became known for developing dual bevel vegetable harvesting knives in collaboration with high altitude farms in Nagano, helping to establish the reputation of Echizen’s hammer forged steel.

Under Kamo’s leadership, the workshop has also played an important role in regional revitalisation, co founding the local industrial research group in the 1970s and helping to create the Takefu Knife Village Cooperative in the 1990s. Today, Kamo Knives continue to reflect that balance of innovation and tradition, crafted with care, precision and the enduring spirit of Echizen craftsmanship.
