Mino Ware Pottery
Mino Ware (or Mino yaki in Japanese) is one of the highest regarded pottery types made in Japan, mainly in the Eastern Gifu Prefecture towns of Toki, Tajimi, Kani and Mizunami. Dating all the back to the 7th century AD, Mino ware has an extremely long and storied history and has long been favoured by tea masters from Kyoto and the aristorcracy.
The figure and color of Mino Ware have become more sophisticated as time has gone by. Kizeto of yellow & ocher, Oribe of deep green glaze, Shino of white & pink glaze, and Setoguro of pure black have great reputations among ceramic lovers not only in Japan but also all over the world.
