Higonokami Pocket Knives

One of the most useful little knives you never knew you needed. At Cutting Edge Knives, barely a day goes by without using ours to open boxes, post or the latest bag of coffee! The Higonokami is a non locking pocket knife originally designed in 1894 by Tasaburo Shigematsu who created the distinctive forged lever used for opening the blade and they're now only made by 5th generation blacksmith Mr Nagao.

A little history

In 1899, "Higonokami Knife Union" was established. In its golden age it had 40 member companies with more than 200 workers in the industry. However, so many imitations of Higonokami with inferior quality came into the market and caused various problems, which made us decide to obtain a trademark registration of Higonokami in 1910. The use of “Higonokami Brand” is restricted to the members of Miki Knife Manufacturers Association and as a result, Nagao Kanakoma Knife is now the only manufacturer that can use “Higonokami” trademark.
